Plauge Top Choons March 2011

Here are the top tracks the Plauge Boyz have been feelin’ lately.
Let’s kick things off with some deep and pretty drum and bass. This Nuage tune clearly takes some cues from the deeper end of dubstep as well as the new directions in jungle and drum and bass, namely the minimalist influences. Lovely.

In a similar vein, here’s Submerse with a soulful future garage (?) song. Chilled out and deep but still pretty dancefloor-friendly. Also: the sample spoiler.

Next up we have everyone’s favorite hipster girl group, Le Corpses Minces and so on… This time given a housy and somewhat balearic reworking by Mr. A. Summer can’t get here soon enough…
Le Corpses Minces de Francoise – Future Me (Mr. A’s repeat the repeat remix)

Example are constant blogger and remix fodder (I personally like Kastle’s take on their Won’t Go Quietly tune) and here Kris Menace gives their song a treatment which makes it sound like Eric Prydz on some good E.

Julio Bashmore’s one of these wunderkinds who are putting out songs like every damn day all the while being at the age where most people worry about acne and not getting laid. You know what? Fuck you, Julio Bashmore and fuck your awesome songs too.

What does “Toro y Moi?” mean exactly? “The Bull and Me”? In any case it spells some funky-ass white boy music. “New Beat” sounds like Air, if Air had spent more time listening to the Stax catalogue instead of all those Serge Gainsborough records.

Speaking of Air and other French softies, this next song could easily be on their DJ-Kicks comp. Do they still make those compilations? They were pretty awesome.
Linda Lewis – Reach for the Truth

Staying on the sun-kissed and blissed-out path, here’s Perception. The title “Electric Wire Hustle” is pretty damn near to “Electric Wire Hustle Flower“, a weird (but really good) track on Common’s Electric Circus. These guys are obviously familiar with other Dilla productions as well. Is that Amp Fiddler or just a good sound-alike?

On the disco tip we have an Andrea True Connection track, one which has caused some envy within our ranks. Nothing else to be said about this one, except that it is popping, my friend.
Andrea True Connection – What’s Your Name, What’s Your Number?

And to top it off, a jazzy crooner number. Takes you straight to a smoky lounge, a drink in your hand, getting over a break-up, don’t it?
Freddy Cole – Correct Me If I’m Wrong

UPDATE!
Whoops! Almost forgot one! Some more d’n'b for yawl.
