Heyo!

It’s time for the second part of my bass music-themed (it’s dubstep, and more) mixtape The Next Step (the first part can be found here in case you missed it). I made both of these mixtapes for the purposes of a) showcasing the variety and diversity of the genre (bass music has moved in leaps and bounds this year, which is nothing short of awesome) and b) to make an educated guess about how it will sound in the future. I definitely see the genre going to a more hip-hop, more synth-y, more subdued direction. I’m seeing a real increase in melody and a new found love for funk in the future as well an increasing number of songs that are nearly impossible to restrict to a specific genre (probably the reason for the increased use of the all-encompassing non-genre “bass music”).

Anyway, enough yakking, listen to the tape.
