P-Funk! Parliament along the great George Clinton gave the original sound and style to define the p-funk sound. Spacey synths, funky – rocking guitars, grooving electric bass, rolling drums. P-funk have put your grand old mommas ass on the move and will put yours!

I bet everyone knows Parliaments ‘Flash Light‘. That’s the thing!

This special sound has made a huge influence on today music. Of course especially to hip-hop through samples. But also need to mention Bootsy Collins – a bass player who by the way got influence him self from the great Larry Graham (Graham Central Station and Sly and the Familystone bands and father of bass slapping technique). Bootsy took slapping influences and developed it forward, evolving funk sound even further.

Another important man to mention would be Zapp bands Roger Troutman. He’s one of the great pioneers, if not a father, of talkbox. Everyone remembers 2-Pac’s huge hit ‘California Love‘. Well there’s mr. Troutman doing his thing with the talkbox. Earlier stuff like ‘More Bounce to the Ounce‘ is most well know talkbox tune ever – also a higly sampled tune.

So if you look a bit around you’ll notice there’s hell of a lot of connections to p-funk (and of course deeper into earlier funk/rnb). Here was just few examples, keep digging your self and get suppriced how fine tunes you might come across with!
