Hi y’all! This is my first blog post here and I’m excited. I will be doing these “Proto time” blog series every now and then. It’s all about posting tracks which have made or have influenced whole genres in their time.
Bounce music is fun, energetic music from New Orleans area. Beats are around 100-110 bpm but usually hihats, for example, go 16/4 so it sounds so damn fast. “Bounce is characterized by call and response style party and Mardi Gras Indian chants and dance call-outs that are frequently hypersexual.” (Wikipedia) Lyrics like “Hands on the ground”, “bend it over”, “wobble” encourages women to do sexy and acrobatic moves on the floor. It looks like fun:

The basic rhythm for a bounce beat is sampled from a ’86 hip hop track “The Showboys – Track Rap”, which by the way is sampled from the Drag Net tv series.
